Bolling Hall

Bolling Hall

Bolling Hall is one of the oldest buildings in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It is currently used as a museum and education centre.

During the second siege of Bradford in 1643, during the English Civil War, Bolling Hall was a Royalist base. On this occasion the Royalists took the town, which had strong Parliamentarian sympathies, and it was thought that the victors would put the inhabitants to the sword.

There is a legend that a ghost appeared in the bedroom where the Royalist commander Earl of Newcastle was staying to tell him to "Pity poor Bradford".

Apparitions of a Grey Lady, a woman in pink and a man in coat tails have been sighted. Other phenomenon include a "foul smell" around the starircase, the sensation of being watched and rattling noises at night.

Bridgwater Road

The author Andy Owens refers to a case that took place at Bridgwater Road in Bradford.

Although the house number remains withheld, Owens details the experiences of Mrs Ruth Booth and her family from when they moved into the propwerty in 1962.

Phenomena included the toilet flushing on its own, creaking on the staircase is if something was walking up and then down, objects would be moved, lights switching on and off, and doors opening and closing on their own. The apparition of a "funny old man" was seen firstly by one of the children, and then by other family members.
